Keith Dean Nelson

Keith was born September 25th, 1939 to Gilbert and Marion (Jensen) Nelson in Beresford, SD. Keith attended school in Viborg, SD and after graduating he enlisted in the Air Force. After his time in the service he attended BHSC where he earned a degree in Business.

Keith married the love of his life, Virginia (Kudrna) in May of 1963 – they had 3 daughters – Lori, Julie and Peggy.

After college Keith moved his family to Avoca, Iowa where he was the administrator for the nursing home. Keith and his family moved to Custer in 1972 where he was the first administrator for Colonial Manor.

Keith and Virginia owned and operated the Ben Franklin store in Custer for 15 years. Keith and Virginia also managed the Legion Lake Resort in Custer State Park for a few years.

During his time in Custer – Keith also served as a president of the school board.

Keith loved to golf and he taught all three of his daughters to love the game as much as he did.

He is survived by his wife Virginia; his daughters Lori (Texas), Julie (Las Vegas), Peggy (Craig) (Las Vegas); and two granddaughters (Miranda and Taylor) (Las Vegas).
