

Kindina Malamatos (Tartani) age 88 passed away and joined our Lord on January 23, 2023, at home with her beloved family. She was a resident of Las Vegas, NV (33 years), formerly of Gary IN/Hobart, IN (31 years), and was born in Samothraki Greece. Kindina came to the United States in 1958 as a new bride to her beloved husband Theodore Malamatos. Shortly after arriving in Gary Indiana, Kindina became a proud United States citizen.
Kindina was active in Greek Orthodox Church activities throughout her life, beginning with singing in church as a very young girl in Samothraki. She was a member of the church choirs at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Merrillville, IN and at Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Las Vegas, NV for over 60 years combined. In addition to her choir activities, Kindina was also involved in other church ministries, including the Ladies Philoptochos Society and the Senior Forerunners. Kindina also enjoyed working alongside other church members at the Greek Festivals and bringing her culinary talents with Greek pastries to the forefront. She donated her Karithopita recipe to Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church for use at church festivals and activities.
She was preceded in death by her husband Theodore Malamatos, parents Mersene and Theodore Tartani, and her sisters Athena (Christos) Hanos, and Zaferoula (Panayiotis) Kakazis, brother-in-law Panayiotis Mihopoulos.
She is survived by her loving children, daughter Mersene (Mike) McKinney of Las Vegas NV, and son Harry Malamatos of Tarpon Springs FL. Her grandchildren Emmanuel (Erica) Pilatos, Theodore Pilatos, Maria (Eric) Pace, Theodore (Vasiliki) Malamatos, and Philip Malamatos. Great grandchildren, Kindina, Caleb, Luca, Nikolette, and Atticus Pilatos, Harmony Long, and Ivy Pace. Her sister Anastasia Mihopoulos (Panayiotis), and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
She will be forever treasured in our hearts as a very loving, nurturing, and caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and her friends from church. She will be deeply missed but her memory will live on forever within us all.
