The Las Vegas community suffered a tremendous loss with the passing away of Marcy Ann (nee Romeo) Humm, March 14, 2015, after a long battle with cancer. Marcy was born in Denver, to Barbara and Dr. Donald Romeo, then moved between Big Bear and La Jolla, Calif., in her very early years. Her family, including six brothers and four sisters, made their final move in 1960, settling in Las Vegas, where Marcy has lived ever since. She attended St. Anne Catholic School and later graduated from Bishop Gorman High School. It was there that she fell in love with her best friend, and husband, of 40 years, Tom, whom she had known since junior high. After a few years of living apart, they married upon Tom's return from college at the University of Nebraska. Shortly thereafter, Marcy's passion and destiny came into focus when Tom and Marcy started their family with the birth of their first child, Stephen "Steve". After which, she committed herself to a lifetime of being an extraordinary mother, by welcoming two more boys, Joseph "Joe", and James "Jimmy", over the course of the next six years. In addition to raising her family, Marcy lived a life of volunteer service, and philanthropy that focused on her son's sports and academic careers. She committed countless hours serving as the "team mom", driving to field trips, and being more active at BGHS than her children probably would have liked. It was this selflessness that set her on the path for 14 years of active involvement and tireless work with the Rape Crisis Center. As a member of the Board of Directors, Marcy focused primarily on fundraising and used her long and meaningful relationships in Southern Nevada to bring awareness to the RCC's cause. Never one to seek the spotlight, she was affectionately known as "Mouse" to friends and family, but it was her nurturing spirit that made her simply "Mom" to so many. Marcy is survived by her husband, Tom; son, Steve; his wife Kate; two-year old granddaughter, Isla; son, Joe; his wife Michelle; grandson, five-year old Zachary, and one-year old granddaughter, Micaela; son, Jimmy; and his wife Elizabeth. A viewing will be 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S Eastern. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 20, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines. Burial following at Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S Eastern. A celebration of Marcy's life will then follow at 2 p.m. at the South Point Casino, 9777 Las Vegas Blvd. South, in the Napa Room. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to either Nathan Adelson Hospice or the Rape Crisis Center.
