Born and raised in Chicago, IL, Marianne met the love of her life when she was just a teen while he was visiting a friend in her neighborhood. After he served his draft tour in the US Army, Marianne and Patrick Curran were married for 47 years until his death in 2010 from Parkinson’s disease. She always envied and celebrated those of her friends who made it to their 50th anniversary and beyond! Together they loved old cars, 60’s music, and the warm weather of Nevada! Our family always enjoyed our unique fun fact; in years when mom’s birthday fell on Mother’s day, Dad’s was on Father’s day!
Marianne enjoyed a long career in bookkeeping and accounting management. In her spare time over the years she volunteered in organizations where she felt she could use her accounting skills including her children’s parent teacher organizations, Girl Scouts, and most recently Treasurer of her home owners association. Marianne loved to travel near and far, read mystery novels voraciously, and enjoyed a good hearty breakfast or dinner and a show out with friends. She also enjoyed swimming at the local pool, three early mornings each week. Her grandkids are grateful that she taught them numerous card games, fun “old” sayings, and most importantly, the idea to put a bit of peanut butter in your oatmeal! Marianne loved life and always wanted to make plans and memories, taking her family on several cruises and trips over the years.
Marianne is survived by two of her three children and their spouses: Sandra (Randy) Hutchinson of Chicago, IL, and Brett (Kim) Curran of Los Angeles, CA and three loving grandchildren. Marianne was so excited to become a great-grandmother for the first time in the spring. Gary, her youngest son, preceded her in death in 2016.
The family will greet friends to celebrate her life on Saturday, November 10, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00pm at Palm Eastern Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at www.michaeljfox.org in honor of her husband.
