Fort Mohave Arizona - Martin Del Thornton Passed away on May 14th 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada at 77 years of age. He was born in Ogden Utah on November 4th 1944 to Dorothy Mae Richins-Rackham-Thornton and Marvin Ellis Rackham. After Dorothy remarried Marty was adopted by his stepfather Elmer (Al) N. Thornton. He was Married to Beverly Thornton until her passing and to Sharon Thornton until their divorce. He is survived by his sister Judy Davis Lewis (Byron), sister Gayle Rackham Warren (Paul), brother Brad Thornton (Debbie) and Sister Cheryl Thornton Makale (Gary), as well a number of nieces and nephews.
Marty served in the Navy from 1966 to 1968 and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and Disabled Veterans organizations during his life. After his service in the Navy, Marty attended LA Trade Tech and graduated with an AS degree in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. Both years he attended he was included on the Dean’s List. He was an avid golfer, enjoying courses in both California and his most recent home in Arizona. He was warehouse manager with 4-S Bakery in Los Angeles, California and Weber Bakery in Burbank, California. He became a member of the Bakery and Confectionery Union. After retirement he worked in maintenance for Country Village in Mira Loma, California before moving to Arizona and full retirement.
The family would like to thank the VA Hospital in Las Vegas and Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas for their healthcare support of Marty in the most recent years.
As per Marty’s wishes he will be laid to rest at the Riverside National Cemetery in California. There are no public services planned. Condolences can be sent to the family at Palm Downtown Mortuary and Cemetery in Las Vegas Nevada. www.palmeastern.com
