April 23, 1945 - Nov 6, 2023
Mary left us unexpectedly due to a sudden illness.
She was a spark of light to her survived two children, four grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren with one on the way, her sisters Clara Scurlock and Doris Smith, her sister in law Rae Ellen Brock, all the loved nieces and nephews. Mary was considered a mother and grandmother to many throughout the years. She always saw the best in every individual even through a person's worst faults. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say there was anyone to say a negative word about her in her lifetime. She was priceless.
Mary was Born in Bend Oregon. She grew up on her fathers dairy farm outside Redmond Oregon. She worked various jobs from the meat packing plant to the wood mill in Bend Oregon before she met her soulmate Robert Ueland and married on October 15, 1966.
Mary was a homemaker, the businesswoman of Ocholok and Ueland's Pit Stop, and the last 17 years of her working career as manager of The Outpost (Prineville branch).
She had a passion for teaching children about God's love; teaching different aged children was a natural calling to her throughout her life. She took countless courses to increase her skills from the time she became a Christian.
She started out in the nursery when Tina was a toddler at Lacamas Heights. She taught Sunday school, missions, vacation bible school, backyard bible school at any church that asked for her help. She was also a member at Jones Road, and Calvary Baptist.
After her husband passed away in 2009 she went on what she called her last big adventure. She was a lifetime resident of the great northwest when she moved to Arizona. She flourished beyond belief. She taught Sunday school at Grace Community Church to the Hispanic community. Her love and desire to serve lead to being a mentor where the Hispanic children have teachers because of her unconditional love and patience. Mary knew this was her greatest adventure, and was excited to do so with her best friends Aunt Denise and sister in law Rae Ellen. Then so excited to have Tina all to herself. This is how she basically wanted her life to go other than having all her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren living close to her in Arizona.
A memorial service for Mary will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church, 2241 N. Main St., Prineville, OR 97754.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.palmsouthwest.com for the Ueland family.
