Melodia Suerte Mangano

Melodia Suerte Mangano, 73, formally residing in California but more recently living in Las Vegas, passed away on February 29, 2020 in her home with her husband, Roy Mangano, by her side. Melody bravely fought a battle against cancer, but ultimately lost this fight.

Melody was born February 11, 1947 in Sampaloc, Manila to Salvador and Juanita Suerte. She found her soulmate and partner for life at the age of 28, when she married Roy Mangano in Los Angeles, California on May 3, 1975.

Melody received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of the Philippines in 1968 before continuing her education at the Mayo Clinic for post graduate exchange visitors. Melody devoted her life to healing others and started her career as a nurse manager at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles for 17 years. Melody then worked as the Director of Surgical Services at Medical Center of North Hollywood for 6 years before moving on to act as the Director of Surgical and Central Services at Memorial Hospital of Gardena for another 12 years. Towards the end of her long and successful career, Melody left hospital care in favor of helping the sick in their homes and worked in a home healthcare setting. Melody was the Director of Patient Care Services at Inglewood Home Health Care, until working as the Director of Nursing at Promise Home Health in Las Vegas from May 2012 until her death.

While Melody found a deep importance in being a nurse, Melody believed her church and spirituality were more important in the bigger picture. Melody’s love and faith in God brought her peace, especially in her final days. The other great love in Melody’s life was the priority she placed on her family. Melody made sure to spend quality time with her family, especially traveling the world together.

Melody is survived by her husband, Roy; her children, Melinda and Romel; and her only grandchild, Madeline.

Visitation will be held March 5 - 6 from 4:00 to 8:00pm with the funeral service on Saturday, March 7 at 2:00pm.
