From the time he was born on February 2, 1945 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Morry pursued and achieved a life of peace, joy, adventure, compassion, prosperity, empathy, and genuine humanity. Where others found impassable brick walls and obstacles, Morry always discovered and opened gateways and traveled pathways for himself and for those around him that led to opportunity, connection, and love.
Morry graduated from Peabody High School, received a Bachelor of Science from Carnegie Institute of Technology, and earned a Master of Business Administration from The Wharton School of Business before embarking on a career as an esteemed and coveted executive. His contributions to the world took him on a journey from Pittsburgh to New Jersey to Kentucky to New York to California and finally to Nevada. He improved every American company he served, from Ziff-Davis Publications to the Courier-Journal Louisville Times to Information Access Company and finally as founder, along with his late business partner and friend, Norman Joseph, of the successful Nevada Slots and Supply. As a young man starting out on his illustrious life, he served the public as Deputy Mayor of Mount Laurel Township, New Jersey.
Morry’s personal life was as robust and replete as his working life. He traveled the world and made friends in each of its corners, floating through the Black Forest majesty of the River Danube, walking the ancient stones of the Holy Land, and sitting over hash browns and coffee in a breakfast diner in Las Vegas. He loved cars and raced them with an affection for speed and precision. His dream of a checkered flag was one of his proudest moments when he and his partner won a SCCA race. This accomplishment and others brought him recognition, including Driver of the Year for the San Francisco Region of the Sports Car Club of America. He was a motorhome aficionado, at first because it gained him access to a front row seat at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway but later grew to an avocation that embraced the open roads of America, the miles of which he traveled often and in abundance.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Irving Goldstein; by his brother, Howard Goldstein; and by his newborn son, Jason Eric.
Though Morry has departed the constraints of his illnesses and broken body, his generous and soaring spirit will continue to flourish in the universe, and his vision and grace will continue to touch and guide those he left behind.
Morry is survived by his wife, Candis who will remember him every day as her “greatest love”; by his children, Jonathan Goldstein and Julie (Brett) Parker; his grandson, Christopher Parker and grandson and namesake, Devon Morris Parker; by his beloved extended family and countless friends and associates around the world; and, of course, Paco.
