Born October 19, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA, Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years, Tony, and
her sisters Helen Clopp, Anne Block and Kaye Gallagher. Pat is survived by her two daughters and son-in laws, Patrice Gianni (Gary Border) and Denise Gianni (Robert Fagan) her brother- in- law, Phillip and sister- in- law Nancy as well as nieces and nephews and an extended family of three grandchildren, Jonathan Border, Craig Border, Jill Wojewodzic and eight great grandchildren.
Pat grew up in Philadelphia, PA and began working at 16 years old for the Philadelphia Electric Co.
At 21, she met her future husband at the company Christmas party. Tony proposed on New Year’s Eve. They married the following September and moved to State College, PA while he completed college.
For eighteen (18) years, Pat raised her family while living in Philadelphia. Her holiday dinners were spectacular, she loved dancing and music with her husband and she wiped away every tear and scrape with big hugs. As a young parent with two girls, Dr. Spock’s manual was her bible and there wasn’t anything Vick’s Vapor rub couldn’t fix.
With the opening of the casino industry in Atlantic City, Pat and Tony moved to Ventnor, NJ. With her daughters now in college, Pat rejoined the work force and was employed with several major corporations as the executive assistant to Presidents and General Managers. She was known for her “poker face”, outstanding organizational skills and proficiency in shorthand, a lost art before computer technology.
Pat then joined the Miss America Organization and worked there until her retirement. Her frequent comment from the days of pageants, egos, scandals and entertainment was “I could write a book”.
In 2011, Pat and Tony relocated to Henderson, NV to join their daughters. She enjoyed trips to Napa Valley, CA, her fur babies and a penny slot machine here and there. She typically won.
Pat is missed every day. She will be remembered for her generous heart, very stylish wardrobe and witty humor.
Raise a glass of champagne (or a Southern Comfort Manhattan with a twist) and celebrate the life of a spectacular lady. She would love that too.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.palmeastern.com for the Gianni family.
