

Patricia Ann (Patsy Ann) Hayes died of COPD and kidney failure in Las Vegas on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the age of 79. She was born on August 12, 1933, in Piedmont, West Virginia; she was the daughter of the late Andrew Joseph and Patricia (McCormick) Amoruso. Mrs. Hayes was a registered nurse for over 50 years, having worked for 20 years at Westlake Community Hospital in Melrose Park, Illinois, until moving to Las Vegas with her husband and youngest son in 1992. In Las Vegas she continued her nursing career working for an area hospital and the medical practice of Dr. Mark Kraft, M.D. She was a graduate of Valley High School in Lonaconing, Maryland and the Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing in Cumberland, Maryland. She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Andrew Amoruso. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Edward Lee Hayes; two sons, Andrew Arden Hayes of Chicago, Illinois, and Christopher Lee Hayes of Las Vegas, Nevada; one granddaughter, Ashlee Denise Hayes of Las Vegas, Nevada; one sister-in-law, Mary Lou (Stakem) Amoruso of Cumberland, Maryland; and one brother-in-law, Joseph J. Jachino and his wife Pamela of Springfield, Illinois. Throughout her life she was a kind and selfless person who won the trust and hearts of many. She was the rock and foundation of her family and will be sorely missed. Mrs. Hayes’ life will be celebrated in a private service on Wednesday, October 17 at Palm Eastern Mortuary and Cemetery, 7600 E. Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada followed by a cremation.
