Paul was born August 30, 1967 in Chicago to Kenneth and Lillian Kessin. He moved at a young age to Highland Park, NJ where he called home prior to his journey to Las Vegas, NV. He came to Vegas to attend UNLV where he received a Bachelor Degree in Business. After he graduated UNLV, he wanted to travel to the Johnny Carson Tonight Show where he could audition for the band drummer.
Paul met the love of his life, Marcella, through his friendship with her sister, Ramona. That friendship grew into a deep love of each other and God. They married September 26,1999. Paul not only married Marcella but also honored her by welcoming Amanda as part of that equation. Later they would have two amazing sons, Daniel 17 and Michael 14.
Paul not only had a love for the Lord and his family but also appreciated all genres of music. Those rare moments when he had some free time he could be found writing music and singing karaoke around the house. Paul was passionate about serving in his church home, Green Valley Christian Center, by working in the booth doing video. His true joy was playing drums with the church worship team. Anyone who knows Paul would know drumming must be a love because he did not do mornings.
Paul’s mind was filled with new ideas, goals and dreams. He was in the final stages of creating a special use organic for soap. Trying to decide on a name was always fun; “Good As Soap”, “Nothing Butt Soap” or “Aahh Soap”. At the end of every year he promised the kids each a $100 if it was not complete. (He was hoping that would motivate him to get it done.)
Paul dreamt of one day going out and trying an open mike for comedy. Every time Paul would see or think of a joke idea you would find him saying it audibly into his phone no matter where he was. His favorite subject matter was always just daily life experiences. The goal, as a family, is too actually complete these ideas he started.
Paul was loving, considerate, hard working, kind, talkative, expressive, sensitive and one would even say quirky. These were just some of the qualities we enjoyed most. If you ever had a conversation with Paul you knew you would be there longer than expected, and possibly hearing stories you never expected. He loved to talk so much he and the kids created a safe word, “mustard.” If Paul heard mustard he knew it was time to wrap it up.
Paul is survived by his loving wife Marcella; their daughter Amanda; sons Daniel and Michael; mother Lillian; and sister Nina. He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Kessin and stepfather Jules Kollar.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 17th at Green Valley Christian Center, 711 Valle Verde Court, Henderson NV 89014 at 10:00a.m.
