

Her eldest brother Arthur Vasquez Jr. preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband Angel Ocasio, whom God brought together 53 years ago, of which they had been married for 31 years; her children, son John (Kristine) Guzman, daughter Angela Cocke and daughter Lora (Robyn) Cocke; grandson Robert (Rayana) Miles; granddaughter Nicole Guzman; great-grandchild Andrea; great-grandchildren from marriage Apple and Ocean Street; brothers and sisters, Andy (Gayle) Vasquez, Ramona Vasquez, Pamela (John) Vasquez Bathurst and Audie Vasquez; and many nieces and nephews.
Paula was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a friend. She had a kind, empathetic, and compassionate heart. She was a wonderful cook and always provided the best holiday meals. She loved her family very much and was always providing an abundance of gifts and happiness as much as possible. Paula believed in God and was a devoted Catholic. She put her faith in everything she did. Her purpose in life was to ensure her family was happy. When she was sought out for advice and comfort, she had the best advice and guidance to empower us to make a difference, and to make our lives better. Her husband described her as a mother goose, someone who always had an eye on her children. She was always strong even when she did not feel it. Her strength derived from her willingness to Live and her trust in God.
She was a writer and has many drafts of children’s books. In 1986, she was recognized for an article and poem she wrote for the Challenger disaster.
Paula was a waitress for 26 years, and she retired from Target after 27 years of various roles within the company. Paula was Employee of the Month for store, district, and region, out of eight states, back-to-back months. Target employers referred to her as a Legend and Queen of the Red Cards.
With her many accomplishments in life, Paula recently stated her biggest accomplishment in life was helping her grandson Robert and great-granddaughter Andrea to succeed.
