Paulette Anne Collier, 82, returned to her heavenly home on December 4, 2017, after a valiant battle with chronic illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in Jesus Christs’ Atonement sustained her during her physical struggles and ultimately gave her peace. A peace rooted in her knowledge of the Plan of Salvation, her relationship with Jesus Christ and her Heavenly Father whom she loved deeply (Alma 22:14).
Paulette was born the seventh of eight children to the late Charlie and Sallie Mae Kendrick in Hopkinsville, Kentucky on July 10, 1935. She was an United States Air Force Airman, Department of Defense, Warehouse Manager and a homemaker respectively. She was immersed in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS) community which provided her lifelong support and spiritual fulfillment. Paulette served in various capacities within the LDS Church but really enjoyed those opportunities in which she worked directly with the youth as a mentor and spiritual advisor.
Paulette was blessed with a loving husband and family. She married fellow Airman and best friend, Sylvester Collier, on May 10, 1960 in Dallas, Texas. Paulette raised her five children with patience, discipline and humility. Paulette instilled in her children those teaching found in Galatians 5:22-23 “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, [and] temperance.” She taught them to overcome the obstacles of life and to appreciate the increased opportunities that were afforded them as a result of the civil rights movement. Paulette loved passionately and gave unconditionally. She took great joy in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren, but most importantly, she was proud of their character, their sense of right and wrong and their compassion for others.
Paulette is survived by her husband, Sylvester; her daughters Sylvia and Sabrina Jackson; her sons Peter (Tricia) and Perryn (Tisa); her grandchildren William, Alicia, Camille, Justice Jackson, Tyson, Peyton, Risa; and her sister, Lucille Johnson. She is preceded in death by her son Paul.
Paulette will be buried at the Palm Eastern Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on December 16, 2017, a memorial service will be held at the LDS church located at 1525 Guilford Drive, Henderson, NV at 11:00 a.m.
