Pauline Cantor Rodarte was an enthusiastic and generous woman who held strong personal convictions. No matter what life handed to her, she never let the bright light in her be extinguished. Pauline was a dreamer, and it was something that others recognized in her. She was compassionate and worked hard to make sure the people in her life knew they were loved.
Pauline was born on February 20, 1946 at St. John’s Hospital in Oxnard, California to Salvador and Polly Danell. She was raised in Oxnard with her older brother, Victor; younger brother, Michael; and younger sisters, Betty and Charlotte. She was an active child as well, taking part in both softball and volleyball. One of her favorite things to do, though, was go to the theater with her aunt.
She graduated from Santa Clara High School class of 1964, and went on to earn her Cosmetology license from Oxnard Beauty College in 1965. Pauline went on to have a 17-year-long career as a hairdresser, and continued to do so from home afterwards. Her greatest role in life, though, was being an amazing mother, grandma, sister, aunt, and wife! She was committed to her marriage to Larry and was a devoted mother to her son, Nicholas; and daughter, Kristta. She was later blessed with four grandchildren, Brandon, Kamyle, Nathaniel, and Karah. They became her pride and joy. Her family was rounded out by the many dogs and cats she had throughout the years. She loved all animals, but her favorite was her poodle, Francois.
Whenever she wasn’t working, Pauline had a number of hobbies. She liked going to the movies, sewing, knitting, crocheting and playing different crosswords, puzzles, and board games. She loved to travel and see the world, too. Some of her favorite vacations were trips to Mexico, Hawaii, and China, as well as going on family cruises and camping. Pauline was also something of a sports fan and would watch baseball, football, and basketball whenever she got the chance. Pauline took all of her personal and moral obligations seriously, and was a strong defender of her faith. She was a member of St. Louis de Montfort for 25 years.
Pauline passed away on July 10, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada after fighting a brave battle against acute myeloid Leukemia. She is survived by her husband, Larry Rodarte; her son, Nicholas Cantor and his wife, Michelle; her daughter, Kristta Rodarte and her husband, Ray; her grandchildren, Brandon Cantor, Kamyle George, Nathaniel Cantor, and Karah Dean; her brothers, Victor and Michael Danell; and her sisters, Betty Ford and Charlotte Besuden.
Pauline Cantor Rodarte was someone who was able to see the world as a good and honorable place. She was the type of person who would keep her eye on tomorrow and constantly held onto her dreams. She was selfless and deeply committed to the people that she loved. That was one of many reasons why all who knew her loved her, and she will be deeply missed.
