Paulino So Chan

He leaves his wife of 56 years, Asuncion Lim (Yao) Chan, his sisters Virginia and Gloria, and his sons Kevin (Roxane), Kirk (Michelle), and Kurtis (Karina). Paulino has nine beautiful grandchildren, Gina, Paul, Patrick, Jacob, Kate, Caden, Trevor, Reese and Kyle, as well as two great-grandchildren Henry and Adeline.

He was preceded in death by his first born Kenneth, who died in infancy, and siblings Alfonso, Victor, Victoria, and Carmencita.

Paulino was born January 25, 1931 in Manila, Philippines. He obtained his medical degree at the University of Santo Thomas (1956) and arrived in Summit, New Jersey in 1957 then moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1958 to continue his medical training. Paulino married his longtime sweetheart Asuncion in April 1959. He practiced internal medicine in Winnipeg, Manitoba and North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada before returning to the United States in 1970. He opened a private practice in internal medicine and was the State Farm Insurance Regional office physician in Marshall, Michigan until retirement in 2000. Paulino and Asuncion relocated to Henderson, Nevada in 2004 where they have a very close group of friends and family.

Paulino greatly enjoyed caring for others as a physician. He was board certified in Internal Medicine, was a member of the American College of Physicians and the Calhoun County Medical Society. He enjoyed visiting with close friends, listening to music, watching Korean movies, traveling, eating Chinese food and making his grandchildren laugh. We will miss his loving heart, generosity, smile and sense of humor. We are grateful that he is now in God’s house overlooking his family and friends from above.

Paulino was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Las Vegas, Nevada. A memorial service will be held at The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, 10450 Gilespie Street, Las Vegas, Nevada 89183 on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 11:00 am.
