Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, the oldest son to Marty and Arlene Dreitzer, Rich was quickly identified as a gifted student with incredible intelligence from an early age. Rich was enrolled in the Astor Program, created for students of exceptional abilities. From there Rich went on to graduate from Canarsie, High School at 17 and enroll in the Industrial Labor Relations (ILR) School at Cornell University, where he graduated with honors on the Dean’s List. Following a year working for a prominent labor union in New York City, Rich completed his Juris Doctor at Washington University in Saint Loui, in 1994.
Shortly thereafter, Rich moved out to Nevada to be near his Brother, Mike Dreitzer, who had moved there a few years prior. He went on to have a stellar legal career at several prestigious law firms in Southern Nevada. Known for his exceptional command of the law, professionalism, fairness and strong sense of social justice, Rich was treasured by his colleagues and clients alike. He was particularly proud to have served as the Nevada State Bar President during its Centennial year, and as President of the Board of KNPR for many years.
Rich was a lion of a man with a towering intellect and a remarkable ability to articulate ideas. This was only surpassed by his kindness and patience for everyone in his life.
Lorisa his wife was the apple of his eye, as she stood unwaveringly by him through everything. She made him truly happy.
He remained very close with his brother Mike throughout his life, a relationship they both endlessly treasured.
Rich also was an amazing father to his daughter Julia, as well as a wonderful uncle to Sam and Charlie, and stepfather to Meghan. Rich loved his parents dearly and often said he considered his Aunt Mickey to be his second mom.
He was a beloved member of his family and his community and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Rich is survived by his wife Lorisa, his daughter Julia, his Brother Mike and his wife Fatima, his step-daughter Meghan Bobilya, her husband Brian, grandson Cooper, another grandson Luca, his aunts Michele, Marsha, his uncle Robert and his nephews Sam, Charlie and Elijan and his niece Assiatou.
