A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by Glenna, his wife of 65 years; his son Mark and wife Renee (Bellingham WA) and their three children Bethany (Encinitas CA), Andrew (Winter Park FL) and Connor (Bellingham WA); his son David and partner Anthony (Chicago IL); his sister Norma Jean Nappier (Union MO); his brother-in-law Joe Pautler (Union MO), his sister-in-law Kay Bizzle (Owensville MO); and brother-in-law Ronnie Meyer (Owensville MO).
Dick led a very active life. He will be remembered by many for being a drummer & band leader, fire-fighter, WWII Army veteran, entrepreneur in real estate & insurance, Sunday school teacher and Boy Scouts leader. During his many years in Union MO, he was active in the Chamber of Commerce and The American Legion Post 297 where he took great pride in arranging over 400 honor guard ceremonies for veterans who passed. Dick will receive his honor guard ceremony and burial on April 11th at 11am at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City NV.
Dick will be remembered for his warm smile and friendly nature; he never knew a stranger. He enjoyed simple things in life like having coffee with his friends at White Rose Café and gatherings at the American Legion Home. In his later years, his retirement in Nevada brought a warm climate and an even warmer circle of friends that he valued greatly. His youthful spirit and corny jokes entertained his grandchildren, who always cherished his company.
He will be greatly missed by many.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in his honor to either The American Legion Post 297 (Union MO) or Grace Lutheran Church (Henderson NV).
