Bob was surrounded with love by his blunt and over-opinionated family including his “Firecracker” Italian wife Santina Noverini Morcom, supposed “Good Child” Danielle and his “sharp stunning good-looking son” Bobby, who obviously did not write this, and their spouses Andrew and Nikole.
We are certainly devastated, but as such, Life is devastating so we want to stay positive and look back at not only our memories of Hashy, but your memories as well.
Coach Morcom was “one of the most down to earth teachers ever” said many of the texts from former students, some who became educators like
Jason Burke.
“He was my brother since the 4th grade. We were the Hot Shitz on the basketball court,” Mr Doud voiced as I can’t help to think of the iconic Lakeland photo of the two 1,000 pt scorers together.
Longtime friend, Dan Case stated in his holiest voice, “You know your dad lived by the beat of a different drum.” We all know that goes without question for anyone that has ever met any of The Morcom’s! I remember fishing many times as a little kid with Mr Case and Mr Doud, learning everything I could. Mr Case said it right, “If it was a no-wake zone, my Dad would say, not for me.”
Good thing to know that us Morcom’s have learned from Dad as we are obviously well-mannered, soft-spoken and not abrupt or brash individuals at all.
Jason Chelik sent me a text that put a smile on my face and stated “He threw chairs across the basketball court before Bobby Knight made it
popular.” That couldn't be more true!
Frank Krantz sent this: Most people remember Bob as a talented athlete, Coach and Excellent Educator. But for me, I remember him, if not a lifelong friend, close to it for some 50 odd years. However, one thing I'm sure most people don't know. Bob was a builder. (not the toy variety either, lol) He and I worked closely together for years at Featherall construction. Then when I started my own building business all I had to do was call Bob up and he was there without question for every project. The world has lost a great man, his family has lost a Husband, a Father and Grandfather. I have lost a true friend!!
Recently Coach Morcom had been hopping around Las Vegas on one Yankee light up leg that he had to show you!! F U Red Sox. Don’t worry we have the Leg!!
Santina and Bob have been going by their street names of Noni and Papa for the last 9 years playing dress up with Danielle’s Devil Spawn, I mean Angels, Avery and Delaney. They really meant everything to him, and he got to see their weird little semi-smiling Addams Family demonic faces, which perked him right up!!
We knew it was imperative to get the whole family back to Pennsylvania last year to see our Lakeland family where our roots will always be.
Danielle’s “Vegas kids” got to experience how we grew up so differently. Looking back, wow!! Those that were able to make it or reached out, it was a touching experience for all and Dad loved it
and wanted it done every year so like Moses said, so it is written, so it is done! We plan on doing it every year and of course Lakeland is always invited.
One thing Dad told Danielle and I was that we needed a boat for Fiddle Lake. The girls loved it so we need a boat and a Boat Name. Bobby’s D’Angler maybe? Drop some Boat Names please. Randy Parry called and when my Dad was 17 and Randy 12, Dad had a Black Chevy he called Black Beauty with 3 on the Tree and he had Randy drive. Great memories and I just happen to be finishing Dad’s 71 Chevelle now. I never knew that he had a Black Chevy. Wow, perspective!!
Dad was a disciplined Organic Juicer over the years, mainly wheat and barley beverages so he was always hydrated and had healthy skin. Check this out, he renewed his license last month and checked organ donor, so now he has the chance that his skin will come back as women’s nipples. Talk about winning!!
Santina is doing well. She's been through a lot the last few years with Dad's therapy and losing the leg, but we are all here together.
