Roy, the oldest of thirteen children [ten surviving], born to Luvania Walker and Roy Walker Sr., carried the responsibilities of leadership and service from an early age. He always placed the needs of family before his own.
In his lifetime, Roy entered two marriages: his marriage to Esta Marie Murphy in July 1973 resulted in the birth of his son, Haakim Walker. His December 2001 marriage to Robin Hall-Walker brought his daughters, Leila Nelson and AYOOLLU Walker, into his life.
Roy demonstrated his relationship with his creator through a practical understanding of what it required of him as a believer. Roy lived these beliefs by providing life-long service to others. He volunteered in building homes, math/science tutoring programs, and as a parenting facilitator.
Later, as his parents' health required them to pull back, Roy, upon receiving his plumbing contractor’s license, became more hands-on in the business, preparing bids, completing jobs, and handling business management.
As time allowed, Roy utilized numerous skills and talents to make ends meet. This included working as a Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche mechanic to pay for school. Roy resumed his education and earned his Accounting Certification in 2003 from Fresno City College and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accountancy from California State University, Fresno in 2008 – an accomplishment that inspired everyone who knew him.
In 2004, Roy and his family relocated to Las Vegas, NV, where Roy worked in the casino industry and for the State of Nevada prior to his retirement. Roy retired from this position to spend more time with his family and in community service.
Roy will be remembered for his resilience, patience, intelligence, and generous spirit. He lived a life centered on Love, Humility, Honor, and Service, leaving behind a legacy that will continue through family and all whose lives he touched.
Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him and were loved by him.
