

Russel Mark Warthen, 27, of Las Vegas passed away May 30, 2012. Born Sept. 7, 1984, in Las Vegas, he was a graduate of Bishop Gorman High School and later attended UNLV and Saddleback College in California. Russ possessed a talent for athletics and the great love during his school years was baseball. He played for Team USA as they traveled throughout Japan following his junior of high school and he continued playing for the colleges he attended. Russ loved dirt-biking, snowboarding, bowling and excelled at any sport he played. His very favorite baseball team was the Boston Red Sox. He loved animals and had two beloved and devoted dogs, Misty and Beau. Russ was a wonderful uncle to his six nieces and six nephews. He is survived by his parents, Russel and Gail Warthen of Las Vegas; his grandmother, Mary Ellen Robillard of Las Vegas; his sisters, Dana Wainwright of Florida, Tara Madsen of California, Shannon Warthen of Las Vegas, and Paige Warthen of Las Vegas; and many other extended family members. We will be celebrating his life with services at noon Monday, June 4, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. In memory of Russ and his love for animals, a donation can be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Las Vegas Valley Humane Society, 3395 S. Jones Blvd., #454 Las Vegas, NV 89146.
