Born on February 15, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois, the beloved son of Rocco and Lillian, and big brother to Nick and Linnea. Russ lived a very full life. He grew up in Elmwood Park, Illinois, and after graduating high school, he continued his education at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy in Missouri. Upon commencement he began his pharmacy career working at his father’s pharmacy, MERL Drugs. Shortly thereafter, he met the love of his life, Betty. In 1973 they moved to Las Vegas to open Village East Drugs, which they proudly owned for over 35 years. Russ’s work ethic, integrity, and care for his patients made a lasting impact on the community he served. Russ and Betty raised 6 children and shared 52 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, respect, and unity. Russ taught his children to be strong and resilient, leading by example. He was their hero and Betty’s anchor.
Russ had many passions. He was a master captain who cherished his sailboat in San Diego, where he and Betty spent countless joyful years on the water. He loved music, found peace and sometimes anger on the golf course, hunting, snow skiing in Brianhead, and fishing at Panguitch lake. He treasured every moment spent with his family. Above all else, his greatest joy was being a Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Papa.
A devoted Catholic, Russ lived his life guided by faith and a deep love for the Lord. His commitment to God was reflected in the way he treated others with kindness, humility, and unwavering compassion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Kathleen, and his son Michael.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Betty; their children Rochelle, Cynthia, Rocco (Mary), and Gina (David); His grandchildren Brandon, Maign, Chelsey, Dilynne, Corey, Rocco, Kyle, Gianna, Bianca, and Antone.
