

Samuel Stanley Hannibal Jr. was the only child born to the late Samuel Stanley Hannibal Sr. and the late Alice Sands Steed in Key West Florida on 21 November 1935. His family called him “Baby Sammie”. His early education began in Key West starting at St. Peter’s Elementary School, St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, Douglass High School, George Washington Carver High School (Coconut Grove, Florida) and Bethune Cookman College in Daytona Beach, Florida. He later received the degree of Associate of Arts from Los Angeles Metropolitan College and a degree of Bachelor of Science (Cum Laude) from upper Iowa University. He also received certification as a Federal Aviation Mechanic.
Samuel spent twenty- eight years in the United States Air Force and served two tours in Vietnam. His military career was a very successful one and he attained the highest enlisted rank of E-9 Chief Master Sergeant. Retiring from the military in 1983, he worked for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Co. and Boeing Aircraft Co. and worked in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for fourteen years.
He leaves to mourn his passing; his wife Samantha Vivienne Hannibal; two daughters, LaRita Smith, and Ingrid Floyd. One son, Stanley Hannibal. Six grandchildren; Alicia Fuentes, Adrian Grimes, Kristin Hannibal, Alanna Fitzpatrick, Kayla Hannibal and Saul Hannibal. Four great grandchildren; Christan, Maleah, Arielle and Donovan. One Aunt who is still living; Mercedes Wilgoose and many cousins, godchildren and sorrowing friends. Samuel or “Sammie” as the family called him; he was an only child, he banded & adopted a brother, his best friend, Charles Leroy Reynolds as much as he loved his three cousins; Lofton Butler, Roosevelt Sands Jr. and Harry Rivas.
Samuel Stanley Hannibal Jr. was a man who loved people. He had friends all over the world and he tried his best to stay in touch with all of them. He loved his family and his birth place “Key West”! Making friends was so easy for him and he spoke to everyone wherever he went.
Samuel was very creative and loved the arts, especially painting. Many of his paintings are hanging on walls all over the country. Painting was his hobby and he loved it as much as he loved sports.
He prepared himself for death by living a full life and trying to do God’s will.
It is in giving….that we receive.
It is in pardoning….that we are pardoned.
It is in dying….that we are born to eternal life.
