Growing up for me wasn’t always easy. I have always been a little out of everyone’s comfort zone in the way I dress, the music I listen to, how I see the world, or the fact that I will always give you my honest thoughts no matter the consequences. She never understood the clothes, but she always understood me. When you’re young, you have kid glasses on, and you cannot see the world and the people around you for what they really are. When I grew up and started to take those glasses off and see things for what they were, I saw so much of myself in her, and I had never even realized it. Everyone always told me how much like my dad I was, and that is true, I am definitely my father’s daughter, but that’s because he was her son. I think she knew that, I think she saw that in me. No matter what I looked like, or phase I was in, she loved me and supported me unconditionally. I always had a seat at the table at Christmas, she always went into the stores she didn’t like to get me things she knew I wouldn’t return cause it’s what I liked. She encouraged my writing, my dancing, my skating, literally anything I ever wanted to do, she supported me and loved me through every piece of it.

That is the thing I will miss for the rest of my life. Her laugh when we do something silly, her always making sure we had food before she ever made a plate, making sure to have our favorite fruit so Sommer and I could fight over the bowl. You and grandpa dancing every chance you got, bickering in the kitchen (all out of love) that grandpa was going to burn something, all of the days swimming with you, all of the Christmas mornings around the tree, evenings at the cabin, cold drinks in the fridge, every single hug and kiss, down to the last one. 

I am not very good at loving out loud, or speaking my feelings into the world. I know you knew how much you meant to me. How much I loved you. I know it in my heart, and I miss you, but I know you are where you are meant to be now.

There are no words to describe the depth of my love and gratitude for Sandy. From the moment I joined her family she welcomed me with open arms and treated me like a daughter. 
I admired her so much on how deeply she loved her family. The true  epitome of a mother who always put her children first! I will always cherish the warmth and  kindness and unwavering support in good times and not so good. I have so many cherished memories I could share,  but Christmas morning at her home with a full spread for breakfast and always made sure that everyone was comfortable before settling herself. Always so generous and took the time to choose  the perfect gift for everyone. I try and embody some of your characteristics in my life today. Thank you for the many ways you enriched my life and for the beautiful memories. You have left a whole in our hearts but I am glad you are with your best friend (Dan) and your daughters. Your spirit will live on forever in our hearts!

We were so Blessed to have become friends with all of you years ago. We were welcomed like family into your parents home. Your mom was the kindest and gentle lady. Prayers to all of you.

My mother was the most courageous person I knew. When she was 26 years old, with three small children aged six, four, and one, she knew that our father, who was in the midst of being charged with delinquency, was not the person to raise our family. At the time, he was in Ohio. My mother decided to leave everything behind, even though we had no future with him there, so, with $300 and the help of a friend, she moved our family to Las Vegas. The friend who assisted her became my dad, and the love of my mother's life. Her brave choice to take action changed our lives for the better. That was the start of our family, and we are so grateful to have had someone so caring and loving, like her, to care for us.

Our mom was also a loving, disciplined, and hard-working woman. She would never put off any work or chores, and she expected the same work ethic from us, and was quick to remind us of our responsibilities to our family. She was the first person I'd call when something was wrong in my life because I knew I could always count on her support, and I knew she'd love me regardless of what the issue was.
