Sherman Junior Harris

Sherman Junior Harris, age 71, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025.Sherman Junior Harris was born to the late Sherman Harris and Lillie Duke Atkins Harris on 21 May 1953 at Duke Medical Hospital in Durham, North Carolina.

He departed this life on 14 April 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada surrounded by family. In the younger years, he attended the Durham County schools of Waltown Elementary, Whitted Junior High, Hillside and Durham High School where he graduated. Sherman Junior enlisted into the United States Air Force on 8 July 1974. During his military tenure he attained the rank of Master Sergeant receiving 9th Air Force Non-Commission Officer of the Year and numerous achievement citation medals. Upon military retirement he became a commercial truck driver, totally retiring in 2011.

Sherman is survived by one daughter, Danielle Harris and one son, Dameon Harris (Christine), both of Nevada; four sisters, Carolyn Harris, Pamela Harris, Felicia Harris, Treissa Shanklin, and one brother, Marc Harris, four nieces, Fatina Galberth (Terrell), Jamesia Harris, Kia and Raven, one great niece, Wayyiara, three aunts, Cornell, Pearl, and Patricia, and one uncle, John, all of Durham, North Carolina, plus a host of cousins and friends.

There will be a Committal Service with Military Honors on Tuesday, May 13th 2025 at 12:40 PM at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive Boulder City, NV 89005.
