

She was born February 9, 1943 in Wortham, Texas to Pearlie B and Sam Mitchell. At the age of 18, she married her childhood sweetheart, Walter Charles “Duke” Loggins of Lubbock, Texas, in a union that would last 55 years.
Thelma was an avid music lover. A coloratura soprano, having studied many years of piano and voice, she loved singing and playing piano in church. She was an administrative assistant at Associates Financial Services from the 1970s through the 2000s where she worked until her retirement. Thelma enjoyed watching old western television shows, loved southern cooking and fellowship with friends, and had a spirited personality, always letting you know what was on her mind. A humanitarian who loved children, she donated to several well-known foundations for more than 30 years including the Wounded Warrior Project, Save the Children, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She was a lifelong volunteer at the Nellis AFB Chapel, supporting the Protestant Women of the Chapel, Widows in the Neighborhood, and teaching Vacation Bible School and Sunday School for most of her adult life.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Charles “Duke” Loggins, and will be remembered by her two loving sons, Mark and Stacy; her daughter-in-law, Greta; her two grandsons, Mitchell and Gavin; and her granddaughter, Charley, all of whom brought her great joy throughout her later years.
Thelma’s celebration of life will be Thursday, February 18, with a viewing 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at Nellis AFB Chapel, Las Vegas. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m. at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
