

Verna Louise Tripp passed away peacefully on January 2, 2022 (age 83) at the Henderson Hospital in Nevada.
Verna was born on September 9, 1938 in Lewiston, Montana to her parents, Mary Marguerite (Cowen) and Vernal Hall Abbott.
Verna Grew up on a ranch in Central Montana and was graduated from Fergus County High School in Lewiston, Montana in 1956.
She attended Cotty College in Missouri, Eastern Montana College in Billing, Montana where she received her Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees in Education, and the University of Utah where she received her PhD in Reading. She also held degrees in Special Education and Administration.
She met her future husband, Bob, while on a winter snowmobile adventure in Yellowstone National Park. They were married July 31, 1967 and resided in Salt Lake City.
Verna served as a teacher and administrator in several schools in Montana and Salk Lake City, Utah. Her creativity, compassion, determination, and sense of humor made Verna a respected and much beloved educator.
Following the passing of her husband, Verna moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, to reside with her sister, Patti.
Among her many interests, Verna enjoyed reading, gourmet cooking, knitting and crochet, painting, growing gladiolus and roses, and writing. She loved animals. Her generous and kind-hearted nature was shown in her support of numerous causes.
Verna was an amazing sister and friend.
Verna was preceded in death by her son, Jason Perry Tripp and her husband, Robert W. Tripp. She is survived by her sisters, Patti Marie Abbott of Las Vegas and Mary Martha Hopkins, brother-in-law, Gerald F. Hopkins of Eastern Oregon, and by her niece, Carolyn Steele of Sandy, Utah.
Graveside Services will be held on Monday, January, 31, 2022 at 11:00 am at Palm Eastern Mortuary located at 7600 S. Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89123.
