

Nevada where he was surrounded by his children. He was 88 years old. He was preceded in death by his
youngest son Wallace Leondus Holst IV (Lee) on August 26, 1996.
Buzzy was born May 30, 1933 in Brigham City, Utah to Wallace Leondus Holst Jr. (Tolley) and Sammie
Louise Woolley Holst. He lived his adolescent years in Brigham City where his father and mother
operated a turkey farm and two restaurants. In 1945 the family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Shortly
thereafter his father began construction on what would be the first of their retail business ventures
Huntridge Drugs & Huntridge Liquors in the heart of the Historic Huntridge District.
Buzzy graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1951. From there he went on to attend college at the
University of Utah. After a few semesters he returned home and joined the United States Marine Corps.
He completed his specialized training at Camp Pendleton, California. He was deployed to Japan during
the Korean War. Upon coming home, he met the love of his life, Shirley and on November 30, 1957 they
were married. They have resided in Las Vegas, Nevada for the past sixty-five years. He is survived by his
children Dennis (Loretta), Krist, Stacey (Jim), nine grandchildren, and multiple great grandchildren. He is
also survived by his only sister Patricia Holst Schneider of Denver, Colorado.
Along with his wife Shirley, Buzzy owned and operated the Holst Company which includes Huntridge
Drugs - Huntridge Liquors and Decatur Drugs - Decatur Liquors until they retired in 2005. He was active
in a number of community and civic endeavors. He was a member of the Henderson Rotary Club and
later the Southwest Rotary Club, the Downtown Las Vegas Hualapai Club, Help of Southern Nevada, BPO Elks - USA, Air Force Association, Chaparral and Valley High School Booster Clubs, UNLV Scholarship Donor and Booster to name a few. He was always willing to help anyone in need and never wanted any recognition for it. His many years of community and civic service truly came from his heart.
Flying was Buzzy's passion. He was always willing to take anyone to their destination as long as it was in
his single engine Cessna 210 airplane. He loved to travel and enjoyed many trips with family and friends,
especially those to Southern Utah, Alaska, and Mexico. Those trips will be fondly remembered by all.
He also had a special place in his heart for animals, especially the many dogs he enjoyed over the years.
Yet, his chief passion was his family. He loved his family dearly and he will truly be missed by them and
all that were blessed and had the honor to know him.
