It was an honor working with you, I learned so much from your life experience and I will never forget the type of person you were to me. Whenever I think about the Chiefs (NFL) I will always remember you, whenever I take pride and admiration for my family, I will remember your example of how you loved yours. Las Vegas has lost one the greatest Security professionals this town has ever seen. I will remember you always Officer Shoen.

In my eulogy to my Dad I included stories of what he meant to his family. It is in the format of an outline because I took a speech class. It's been a few months and it is still hard to believe he is not here. I miss our lunch at McDonalds on way to the doctors. Love and miss you Dad
                                         Dads Eulogy
I.I would like to start my eulogy for my father by reciting a silly song my dad used to sing.
Beans, beans, theyre good for your heart
The more you eat the more you fart
The more you fart the better you feel so eat your beans at every meal.
Now that I have reminded you of his silly personality I would like to tell you what he meant to his parents.
II.My dad was born in Kansas City, Mo. The first child to Reginald Vanderbilt Shoen and Thelma Doris Rowden. He was so close to his parents that he slept in bed with them till he was 8 years old. When he left for the Air Force, my grandmother missed him so much so she wrote him a poem, that I would like to read to you.

         Dear Son, you know we love you 
             Our hearts are filled with pride,
        Wed be so very happy
         When youre once more by our side 
        Dear Son, it seems forever 
           Since you left upon that plane,
         But the time is growing nearer
           When youll be home again
       I pray you havent changed too much
         But no matter where you go, 
        Youll always be an American
          Youre proud of that I know
        Now son, no matter where you are
          The lord is by your side, 
   I know that he will keep you safe 
     Just let him be your guide.


III.I would to share a few reasons I admire my dad, he was patriotic, proud, loyal, kind, funny, silly dependable and hard working. I admire his love and commitment to my mother. He was committed to making her happy, if it was important to her, it was important to him. They were happily married 43 years and during his last days, his only concern was for my moms well-being and not his impending mortality.
I also admire him because of the kind of father he was to us. My dad always gave us lots of hugs and kisses and told us he loved us but he also told us when we were wrong. A lot of the core values he instilled in me come out when I am scolding my children. 


IV.I would like to share some memories I had with my Dad, 
When I was 5 and wanted my dad to sleep with me because I was scared, My Dad told me Jesus is with me and he will keep me safe.
I said, Jesus can sleep with mommy and he can sleep with me.

When I was 9 years, He took me hunting and taught me to use a shotgun for the first time, I pointed the gun at a tree, pulled the trigger and the kickback knocked me on my butt.

But of all the memories that I shared with my dad, my favorites were just sitting on his lap sharing a coconut or a can of peaches.

V.Goodbye Dad,
   Every time I watch a western or war movie,
    I will think of you
   Every time I hear oldies music
    I will think of you
I love you Dad, you will always live on in my heart.

 



 My dad, he was a great father and person. He was the most loving and caring person you could ever ask for in your life and he was my father. So it made growing up with him even more special. He always gave the right advice, Always spoke the truth and would always tell it like it is. If he didn't like you, you would know. He knew how to fix or install just about anything.  If you needed floors done or bathroom remodeled he was always willing to help. With all that being said, there is a quote by Charlie Chaplin, A day without laughter is a day wasted.  In my life every day with him was laughter, a day wouldn't go by where he wouldn't find a way to make you laugh. He had one of the best sense of humor's and always had a few good jokes up his sleeve to lighten the mood. My father left a funny memory in Everybody's heart that will never be forgotten. As I get older I see his trades coming out in me and it makes me happy. And that I wish that I could be as great of a father as he was.  I love you dad and I'll see ya when I see ya. and Chiefs versus Eagles for the Super Bowl!!! let's go!!! love ya dad!!!

I love you and I miss you but I know you will always be with me.

My grandfather was one of the most important  people in my life. He was always someone who  inspired me and supported me through everything. I can be having a terrible day and just being around him always brightened my mood. He was always someone who brought comfort. Im going to forever miss him and love him. ♡

My Grandpa was the greatest grandpa in the world. I remember when we dragged him in circles on the floor and when his pants fell off on a leader. I know he will always be by are side even if he's gone. A great thing he did  is fight in Vietnam war for peace and was a Vietnam war Veteran. There for he was a very awesome grandpa.

Your were a great older brother. We had so much fun growing up together.  Diane and I getting to come to Vegas and Iowa last year to see you, Dorothy and family was a wonderful time we will both always remember. Love You ver much!@

Wayne E. Shoen was my grandpa. I knew that he did great things and was a good husband and a very good grandpa. It was sad though i never got to see him when he was young. I imagined he was the most kind and wonderful person in the world. He was suffering from unimaginable pain but now he is in a better place. When i heard the news he passed i was very sad but glad that he wouldn't be going threw any pain. The first time i visited he looked so healthy and full of life even though he was battling cancer. The second time i visited him he looked so much more different in just one year. That's when i knew he was truly gone. I loved him so much even though i saw him very little, he was the best grandpa ever.

Even though I rarely got to see my grandpa anytime I was able to come around I was treated with so much love. He always made me feel at home and the fact we were in different states that didn't matter when I came to visit it was like I had always been there he loved every one of us equally. I loved listening to his stories and I loved his spirit everything about him I loved. I had so much respect for this man. I'm glad he's no longer hurting and I know he's watching over all of us r.i.p you will be missed but you will always live on in the hearts of everyone that loved you.

My beloved husband,  my life, my home.  You will be missed each and every day.  I cannot express the sadness that I feel towards the loss of you.  It's like someone split me open and took away my heart.  The worse time of the day is noon, because you do not call and say  sweetie to me and how is your day and are you at Wolgang Puck? Uncle Wayne was the light of so many lives.
As little girls, we remember him making us laugh so much we would cry. He had a unique sense of humor that made everyone smile and feel welcomed.
No one could be upset around him for too long before he could make you laugh it off.
He was caring and giving to us all. You didn't have to be his own child for him to make you feel loved and accepted.
Uncle Wayne was a very clever man, full of tons of stories and facts and some of that Jeopardy knowledge. He couldn't  put his alphabet or fairy tale stories together but he could tell you when and how something was invented , when every war happened and every detail of it....
Even as adults he had inspired us. His will to fight and determination to let his family know he would do anything for them makes this loss that much harder. We know you fought a good fight and we appreciate the extra time you gave us all to spend with you. Thank you for showing us true love by always loving us unconditionally. Your love for Aunt Dorothy was inspiring and something we will always hold dear to our hearts. We can only hope our husbands will love us like you loved her.
Uncle Wayne, Your love, your patience, your understanding, your wisdom and your amazing sense of humor will live on inside us forever.
You have given us gifts that are more precious then anything in this world.
Goodbye Uncle Wayne you will always live i our hearts and we will be sure to share your memories with our kids for years to come.
We are so sad that we are unable to be there to celebrate your life with the family but please know we will celebrate your life for the rest of ours.

We all struggle to figure out what our purpose in life is. I have know what Wayne's purpose has been from the first day that I met him. God places the right people in our lives to be an example on how we should live our life. He showed me unconditional love and to not take life too seriously. To love all those around you and be thankful them. 
There has never been a day that I or anyone else in this room who saw Wayne, and he was not smiling. He always greeted me with a hug, a kiss and a I Love You. I could stand here for hours and share so many laughable memories with you. We all were so blessed to have him be a Huge part of our lives. I am so thankful that my heart over flows with only Love and Respect for a truly remarkable man. 
I will always miss you everyday for the rest of my life.

Losing my Father is one of the most difficult things I have gone through. As I am standing up here today, I realize how fortunate I was to have him as my Father. There are not words to express his influence in my life. It is through his example that I learned to be the mother that I am today. 

My dad loved to make people laugh. I often thought he only talked backwards because he knew how much joy it brought my mother when he would switch around words. 

When I was a child I loved going fishing and hunting with him. I learned I was good at running to gather up the dead animals while hunting. Also, I often got my dad in trouble while fishing. One time in particular, I was dressed up in new jeans for an occasion and I sank knee deep into the mud. I remember my dad rinsed me off in the lake and tried to dry me off before returning home. 

My dad used to tell stories about me as a child. The two he told most where that I was an expert climber and at the age of 3 I climbed all the way to the top of a tree while he was fishing. He said he had to climb all the way up there to fetch me while fearing the branches would break. Another story is that while at the Lakes of the Ozarks I grabbed a fish head and chased my sister around the cabin saying fish tounge fish tounge. 

My father was hardworking, strong, loving, and gentle. One of the biggest lessons I learned from my Dad - the value of hard work. He woke up everyday, put on his shoes, and went to work to provide for our family often even working two full time jobs. Even if he didn't feel good, he would get up and go to work.  

He showed strength and love right up until his last days with us. I hope that one day, when I die, my children can look back, tell funny stories about me, and talk about how I loved them. Then, like my father, I will have led a complete life.

I would like to share a poem I wrote:

I'm so tired and yet I can not sleep.
Laying here thinking about you makes me weep.
I can't imagine life without you, it's to surreal. 
Enveloped in sadness, sometimes it's hard to know what is real. 
Thinking of all the happy moments we shared. 
Oh how you always let me know you cared. 
You had a way of making me feel like your special little girl. 
Dancing with you standing on your feet you would make me twirl. 
You had a way of making everyone laugh. 
Your smile brightens up every photograph. 
I miss you so much already, I can't wait to see you in heaven. 

Speech To Papa
Papa was an outstanding, amazing, and caring man. He always wanted to take care of all of us even when he had cancer, he would massage grandmas feet and even when I fell off my scooter grandpa tried calling my dad and he didn't answer so he still left a voicemail because he knew that I was hurt. Grandpa had the best experience with grandchildren then anyone else can ever have because he got to experience a little of everything, like disciplining the grandchildren and getting to be a great grandfather. Grandpa has been there for all of us for stuff like our Choir performances, Birthday parties and he even flew out of town just to see his family. He was there for joyful moments and rough moments and that's what I would call a perfect life and that's why I will love and miss him forever. Therefore I think he lived a perfect life R. I. P

Dorothy and Family,  I have such great memories of spending time with you when you lived here in Missouri .  Wayne was a great man who will be missed by many.  Love to all Terry Shoen Brown
