She was born Winnie Jones on September 6th, 1938 to the late Selena and Mckinley Jones. Winnie received her early education in the Rayville, LA School System where she graduated High School in the year 1956.
Winnie met and married her soulmate and life partner Frank James Watson in 1963. Shortly thereafter, they relocated to the state of California with their four children, and after the passing of her Mother, she took on the responsibility of caring for her two sisters Jessie and Maxine; she also took on the responsibility in 2008 of caring for her great-grandchildren Marquelez, Antania, and Adriana.
Winnie and her family settled in Oakland, CA where she worked as a nurse’s aide before she became among one of the first women to be hired as a supervisor at the General Motors Auto Company where she remained employed for 28 years before retiring. Winnie loved good food, socializing, watching movies and also enjoyed traveling.
Winnie received Christ at an early age and upon her arrival to California she became a member of Gloryland Apostolic Cathedral located in Richmond CA, under the leadership of Bishop Tom H. Watson where she served on the Mothers board for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank; her son Gary Watson; and brothers Bobby Joe Jones, George Mack Jones, and Moses Jones.
She is survived by her daughter Henrietta Berger; her two sons Louis Watson and Michael Watson; 7 sisters Doretha Hall, Margaret Williams, Gladys Johnson, Gloria Wrenn, Bobbie Rembert, Jessie Monroe and Maxine Jefferson; 9 brothers Floyd Jones, Henry Jones, Joseph Jones, Thomas Jones, William Jones, Roosevelt Jones, Leonard Smiley, Romaine Goodlow and Keith Goodlow; 15 grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to mourn her memory.
