Cheryl Ann Pearson, known to all as Cheri, was born in Seattle, WA September 19, 1946. She went to be with Jesus on May 19, 2026 at age 79 in Cedar Park, TX. Cheri passed away from complications from Multiple Sclerosis, which she had been fighting for almost 60 years.
Cheri primarily grew up in the California Bay Area. In high school, she was active in synchronized swimming in high school and played the clarinet. She loved her classes in literature and writing. She met her first husband through their church youth group and married Dwight Arthur Cofer in 1966 and Jennifer was born in August of 1968. It wasn’t much longer after this time that she discovered she had Multiple Sclerosis, although it was quite a few years before it significantly affected her day to day life. She became a single mother in 1974, but with her strong, independent character, she provided well for her daughter. Cheri and Jenni would go to San Francisco to fly kites, go to museums, and go to Lake Tahoe skiing. Without a four year college degree, she landed a job in the computer industry before it was an industry and worked in programming. Cheri was very active in a very small baptist church close to where her and Jenni lived in the Bay Area. This is where she met and married Samuel Pearson in 1985. They moved to Colorado Springs, CO and eventually to San Antonio TX so they could be closer to Sam’s family. By this time, her MS was keeping her from doing daily activities, but Sam was by her side for everything. He was thoroughly devoted to her despite her health challenges. Cheri’s passion was for the Lord. She would attend her church and as often as physically possible and loved listening to Sam play the organ during the service. During Cheri’s last few years, she still loved participating in activities such as chair volleyball, bible study, bingo and getting her nails done. She loved when she was able to have pizza and usually had witty comments for those around her, but all the while she rarely complained about her struggles.
Cheri’s beloved husband, Sam Pearson, passed away July 2024. Cheri is survived by her sister, Patricia McCulley and her daughter, Jennifer Cofer Perkins. She was well loved and cared for after Sam’s passing by Deborah Jungman, Julie Cook and the staff at New Hope Manor in Cedar Park, TX
