Daphne who was known to many friends and family as Dash, was born in Jasper, Texas on April 6, 1941 to Betty Jo (Fort) Gerald and Samuel Jerome Gerald.
After graduating from Weslaco High School, she started college at the University of Texas at Austin. She put college life on hold to get married and have two sons, Stephen Gerald Wray who now lives in Corpus Christi and Scott David Wray who lives in San Antonio. Daphne and family moved from San Antonio to Corpus Christi where she worked for the Corpus Christi Police Department and KIII TV station. Daphne and her two sons moved to Houston where she went to work for Sonat Exploration as a Executive Secretary. Daphne loved to bowl so she started bowling with the Sonat bowling team. While bowling, she met Jerry Miller who also loved bowling. Daphne and Jerry were married for life in 1988 and bowled together for years. They moved from Houston to San Antonio and finally to Austin.
Daphne wanted to finish her college education so she went back to the University of Texas at Austin and received the Bachelor of Arts degree in Language Arts on May 17, 1997. She became the grammar editor, self imposed, for many book authors, TV networks and newspapers who would always send her thanks.
