James “Jimmy” Siler, age 77, was born on April 9, 1944 in Kermit, Texas. He passed away on January 23, 2022 at Cedar Pointe Health and Wellness Center in Cedar Park, Texas. His home was in Leander, Texas.
Jimmy had numerous occupations, some which included oil field pipefitting, automotive repair, maintenance engineering, long distance truck driving, and last but most loved, a school bus driver. He spoke of that time spent with school children, getting them safely to school and back home, as the most rewarding job.
Hiking in various places through Texas, Jimmy enjoyed taking pictures and seeing the wildlife. At home, he loved his woodworking. He built a beautiful cradle for his grandchild. Along with that, he also made various other items, such as two wall-mounted wooden collection boxes for his church, Central Leander. He took a lot of pride in making these things for the ones he loved.
James was preceded in death by his sisters, Evaloa Crouse and Nancy Mitchell, as well as his Aunt Evelyn Alexander and her husband William Alexander. They were the family that raised him as their own child along with his sisters.
Surviving him are his wife of 51 years, Jean Ann Siler; his daughter and her husband, Jamie and Michael Sullivan of Leander, Texas; his granddaughter, Hally Sullivan of Leander, Texas; his sister, Susan Templeton of Granbury, Texas; and his brother, Benjamin Palmerton of Winchester, Kentucky.
The family would like Magnolia Hospice and the staff at Cedar Pointe to know how much they are appreciated for the care they gave James. Tomeka was the RN with Magnolia that for two years from his home, and then on to Cedar Pointe, gave him excellent, loving care. There are numerous other caregivers over this last six plus years that oversaw his medical and spiritual needs; it took a village for us to go this far. Gordon Cox, the pastor at Central Leander, was a family friend from the past and currently his pastor. He made frequent visits to James, and those visits meant a lot to him.
Graveside services will be held Friday, March 11 at 2 p.m. at Bagdad Cemetery in Leander, Texas.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.wcfishleander.com for the Siler family.
