Margie was born in Hoover’s Valley, Texas, a community outside of Kingsland, on
March 1, 1928. She retired from the Texas Department of Public Safety after 32
and half years of service. After that she loved spending time with family, taking
trips with them, her yard, shopping, her animals, and staying active.
She was preceded into death by her late husband and the father of her daughter,
Garth A. Shelley, her late husband, Robert L. Ligon, Sr., parents Frank and Kate
Rowden, sister, Marie Breazeale, brother: R. H. Rowden and Berry J. Rowden, and
stepdaughter, Sheri Ligon Shindler.
Margie is survived by her loving and caring daughter, Linda Shelley Cole and
husband Vernon, stepson, Robert L. Ligon, Jr. and wife Laura, sisters: Agnes
Haley, Ruth Owsley, and Norma Burnley, 3 grandsons, 6 great grandchildren, 7
step-grandchildren, and 14 step great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and
nephews.
