Paul S. Chapa, born February 9, 1945, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and devotion to family. A beloved father, husband, brother, and friend to many, he lived his life as a man of God, guided by faith, humility, and a generous spirit.
Paul proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. During his service, he was wounded in combat and was awarded the Purple Heart, a testament to his courage and sacrifice in defense of his nation. His service to his country was a source of deep pride, and he carried the honor of being a Marine throughout his life. He would often say, “Once a Marine, Always a Marine.”
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, as well as his parents and siblings. The love he shared with his wife was evident to all who knew them. In the years before her passing, he was rarely far from her side. Together they faithfully volunteered at church events, where he was especially known for preparing and serving his delicious barbecue chicken at countless church benefits and gatherings.
Paul was a natural storyteller. He had a gift for bringing memories to life, often sharing stories of family, childhood, and his experiences during the Vietnam War. Those stories, told with warmth and humor, connected generations and left lasting impressions on everyone who listened.
Above all, he was devoted to his family. He is lovingly survived by his children: Apolonio Paul Chapa (Resiebelle), Eddie Chapa (Christine), Michael Chapa (Mirna), Diana Chapa, Tim Nuncio, Erick Chapa (Hilary), and Elias Chapa; along with nineteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Those who knew him will remember his strong faith, his loyalty to family, and his willingness to help others. He touched many lives through his kindness, his service, and his enduring love for those around him.
In recognition of his honorable and courageous service, military honors will be rendered in tribute to his time in the United States Marine Corps and his sacrifice during the Vietnam War.
While his family and friends mourn his passing, they take comfort in knowing he is reunited with his beloved wife and resting in the eternal peace of the Lord he served faithfully throughout his life.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
