Carol Ann Heagy, 71 years old, lived an authentic life rooted in love for her family, laughter, and a deep sense of home. To attain any one of those things in a lifetime is commendable; all of those things is incredible.
Carol was incredible. She found her true calling in raising her family while also forging a career spanning thirty years as an LPN at the Lebanon VA Medical Center, retiring in 2015. When asked for advice on how to balance motherhood with life, she’d say “just love them unconditionally until the end of time.”
In 1992, an unexpected introduction led to a whirlwind romance with Claude Heagy Jr. They married less than a year after meeting and celebrated 32 years together last October—a love to last her lifetime. Over the course of their decades-long union, Claude and Carol enjoyed countless hiking adventures, cruises, riding the Rails to Trails, and visiting relatives near and far (game nights always included).
She had a knack for making magic out of the mundane with her ability to find items and reimagine them into something remarkable: a soft bird’s nest, preserving a beehive, using vines for wreath-making, and could make a Christmas tree out of anything. She found even greater joy in sharing her castaway-turned-creations with her family and friends.
Carol was refreshingly unapologetic in her points of view, with a sharp wit and reply always at the ready. Her commentary was as colorful as the iconic baked creations she became lauded for at family get togethers. She spoke her mind, from her heart, always freely; her spirit was as dazzling as the rainbows she chased at every opportunity.
Carol passed away on December 28, 2024. She leaves behind her husband, Claude; her daughter, Jennifer J. Ebersole; her son, Dean M. Ebersole (Jennifer L. Ebersole); her grandchildren, Dean A. Ebersole, Dalton Ebersole, and Katelyn Fulk; her brother, Thomas Rhoads; and numerous extended family members and friends. She is reunited with her parents, Walter and Josephine, as well as her siblings, Richard, Walter, Mildred, and Betty, who preceded her in passing.
A memorial service will be held on February 2, 2025, from 1-4 at the Amvets Post 293 located at 2074 PA-72, Lebanon, PA 17046.
