Catherine G Schaeffer

Catherine G. Schaeffer, 83, Lebanon, formerly of W. Lebanon, passed away on Friday July 26, 2013 in the Hershey Medical Center. She was the wife of Harold E. Schaeffer to whom she was married for 62 years. She was born in Lebanon on July 6, 1930 a daughter of the late Russell and Mary C. Wolfe Krause. She was a graduate of Lebanon High School class of 1948 and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Jonestown where she was an active volunteer in the church and helped to publish the newsletter. Catherine also volunteered with the West Lebanon Playground Association and the Friends of the Union Canal Tunnel. In addition to her husband she is survived by children: Karen M. wife of Michael Rank; Gary E. and wife Cindy Schaeffer; Diane K. wife of Gary Beck; grandchildren: Julie Rank, Bradley Rank, Melissa Sweeney, Craig Schaeffer, Drew Schaeffer, Ashley Beck, Austin Beck; 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 A.M. in the Zion Lutheran Church, 103 W. Market St., Jonestown, PA 17038 where a viewing will begin at 10:00 A.M. There will also be a viewing on Wednesday from 6 to 8 P.M. in the Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon, PA 17042. Interment will be made in the National Cemetery at Ft. Indiantown Gap. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to her church or to the Friends of the Union Canal Tunnel Park, 1515 Elm St., Lebanon, PA 17042.
