
Clayton H. “Pete” Donton, 90, Lebanon, passed away on Tuesday November 3, 2015 in the Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the husband of Bernardine C. Rudegeair Donton with whom he celebrated a 63rd wedding anniversary in April. He was born in Lebanon on August 13, 1925 a son of the late Harry and Nora Hatt Donton. He is a graduate of Lebanon High School class of 1944; U. S. Navy Electrician School; Iowa State College and had attended the former Lebanon Business College. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran having served in WW2 as an electricians mate third class on the destroyer U. S. S. Halford in the South Pacific. He was awarded four battle stars and a Philippine Presidential Unit Citation. He was a retired quality control assurance specialist at the former Olmstead AFB, Middletown and the former New Cumberland Army Depot with 38 years of service. He also was employed part-time in the mail room of the Lebanon Daily News for 15 years. He attended St. Mark’s UCC, Lebanon and enjoyed family events and traveling; especially to his ship reunions; and stamp collecting. He was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed watching sporting events especially those involving his children and grandchildren. In his youth he participated in local baseball and basketball leagues. He was a member of the Lebanon VFW Post #23; U.S.Naval Memorial, Washington, DC; National Association of Retired Federal Employees Chapter 458, Lebanon. In addition to his wife he is survived by children: Pamela A. Donton, Lebanon; Stephanie K. Brucker, Fredericksburg; Todd M. Donton and wife Elaina, Lancaster; grandchildren: Dr. Jennifer Tobin, Elizabethtown; Jeff Brucker and wife Fawn, Pine Grove; Brian Brucker and wife Tracey, Howell, NJ; Emily and Kyle Donton, Lancaster; great-grandchildren: Kyran Brucker, Gavin Brucker, Karson Brucker; brother: Russell J. Donton; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters: Elsie M. Fralick, Pearl D. Levan; and brother: George H. Donton. Funeral services will be Saturday November 7, 2015 at 11:00 A. M. in the Rohland Funeral Home 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon, PA 17042 where a viewing will begin at 10:00 A.M. Interment with full military honors will be made in Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Transverse Myelitis Association, 1787 Sutter Park Way, Powell, OH 43065.
