Clayton J. Pankewicz, 36, Hershey, passed away in the Penn State Hershey Medical Center on Friday, August 2. He was the loving husband of Angela M. (Rhode) Pankewicz with whom he celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary on June 8th. Clay was born in Lancaster on July 30, 1988, a son of Francine (Paul) Hawksworth and Joseph Pankewicz. He was the Parts Manager for Thornton CDJR in Red Lion. He had attended church at Calvary Chapel in Lebanon. Clay proudly served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. He served combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, served in South Korea and also assisted with disaster relief in Haiti. Clay was an avid hunter eagerly anticipating both archery and rifle season. He enjoyed teaching others the hobby he so dearly loved. He was also a licensed fly fishing guide and his love for fishing allowed him to assist other veterans through the Donegal Trout Unlimited Veterans Service Program as well as individually through Standing Stone Outfitters. He was a man of many skills whether it be cooking, grilling, carpentry or landscaping. He loved his home very much and always looked forward to the next project. Clay's love for his dogs was like no other. He would have done anything for them; Indy, Lady and Zeus. He loved his family more than anything. His people were his world, whether it was just simple phone calls or texts. He was loyal, caring and very compassionate. Clay was overjoyed with the news of becoming a father to his son in October. His son will surely be loved and told all about his father by his wife, family and friends. If you would like to bring a written memory to the service, the family would love to share them with his son. In addition to his wife and parents he is survived by his step-father: Wayne Hawksworth; step-mother: Tressia wife of Barth Marino; siblings: Lillian wife of Jeremy Riccio, Natalie Hawksworth, Matthew Hawksworth, Nicholas Pankewicz; paternal grandmother: Linda wife of Ted Sobczak; paternal grandfather Donald Pankewicz. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 14, 2024 at 12:00 pm. at Lebanon Area Evangelical Free Church 600 Shepherd St., Jonestown, PA 17038 where a time of visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service. Interment with full military honors will be at the National Cemetery at Ft. Indiantown Gap. In lieu of flowers, you may send donations to the York County SPCA or the Wounded Warrior Project.
