Henry Thomas (“Tom”) Volpe died March 21, 2026, surrounded by loving family members at Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA, following a brief illness. Born on January 9, 1938, he was 88 years of age. Tom was predeceased by his beloved wife and lifelong “best friend” Carol (Strath), who passed away in September 2024, at the age of 87. Married for 62 gratifying years, they were longtime residents of Oyster Bay, Long Island, where Tom served proudly as the sexton of Christ Church during the early 1970s and ‘80s. He was a kind and gentle man who loved tennis, classical music, and American history; the latter manifesting in Revolutionary War reenactments, in which he participated as an infantryman in the Royal Welch Fusiliers, and in which capacity he had the privilege of meeting the Queen of England. He was a notorious proponent of cleanliness and order, well-liked for his affability and his flair for unexpected, witty quips followed by hearty, ringing laughter. Tom is survived by his two children, Karen Elizabeth Volpe and Christopher Thomas Volpe, the latter’s wife Anna Birch and grandchild Atlas Volpe, twin brother Theodore (“Ted”) Volpe, and niece and nephew Denise and Stephen and their families.
