John Allen Dechert

John Allen Dechert, 93 of Morgantown passed away in Reading Hospital on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. He was born in Lebanon on April 3, 1932, a son of the late Jeff and Nora (Klahr) Dechert. John was the husband of the late Joan L. Dechert who passed away October 16, 2016. Mr. Dechert was retired from Bethlehem Steel and from Oar mining. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He enjoyed Paint by the numbers, Scratching off Lottery Tickets, Hunting and Fishing. Surviving are his children Jeff A. Dechert, Jill M. Dechert and Fiance Nathan Wolford, Joel L. Dechert and wife Carol A. Dechert all of Mohton; grandson: Chad A. Dechert; great granddaughter: Emma Dechert; Step grandchildren: Matthew Heckman and Megan wife of Nick Unsworth; step great grandchildren Aiden; Riley; and Everly; sister: Arlene Morrissey of Newport News, VA; several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held in the Rohland Funeral Home Inc. 508 Cumberland St. Lebanon, PA, 17042 on Friday, January 9, 2026 at 10:00 AM with a viewing from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
