Joseph G. Bishop

Joseph G. Bishop, 93, of Lebanon, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016 in the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Sarah E. Rhine Johnson Bishop. He was born in Lebanon on October 19, 1922, a son of the late Benjamin and Mary Elizabeth Gingrich Bishop. He was employed for 27 years with UGI as a heavy equipment operator. Joseph served in the US Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Hersey VFW; life member of Lebanon American Legion and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by sons, Karl Bishop and wife Cora of TX; Joseph Bishop, Jr of MD; Terry Bishop of Lebanon; grandsons, Karl Bishop, II and wife Melissa and Chris Bishop and wife Amanda; great granddaughters, Savannah and Sierrah; step sons, Charles Johnson of Myerstown; Rodney Johnson and wife Susan of Palmyra; Steven Johnson of Lebanon; Rick Johnson and wife Glenda of LA; step daughters, Patricia Deck of Wernersville; Helen Anderson and husband Delbert of ME; Mary Sample and husband James of Newmanstown. He was preceded in death by step daughters, Brenda Kirsetter, Kathy Strickler, Barbara Jean Truax; step brothers and step sisters. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 31st at 11 AM in Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon with a viewing beginning on Wednesday at 10 AM. Interment will be made with military honors at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Lebanon VA Medical Center, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042.
