

Larry G. McKinney, Sr., 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2025. He was born on February 12, 1940, to the late Charles and Mary (Parpagene) McKinney. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Marilyn M. McKinney. He is survived by his children, Larry (Emmalee) McKinney, Jr. of Lebanon, Jodi (Bart) Briody of Lebanon, and Jennifer (Joe) Acheson of Herndon, VA; grandchildren, Amber (Darryl) Bickell, Miranda (Benjamin Winters) Beard, Corissa and Delayna Acheson; granddogs, Marty “McFly” Bickell, Spartacus, and Gretchen; grand-African Grey, Captain Blooper. He was a loving husband, father, son, Pop, and cousin who will be missed big and remembered forever.
Our dad was a Navy veteran serving on the USS Runner submarine from 1958-1961; a sea Captain licensed by the US Coast Guard who chartered boats for fishing tournaments; a talented chef, baker, pastry chef, and candy maker; a musician and Harley Davidson enthusiast. He retired as a Process Analyst Supervisor at Alcoa after 30+ years. In the ‘60s he formed a rock band called The Centurys that played all over this area and opened for Gladys Knight & the Pips on the Steel Pier. In the ‘90s he got the band back together as Rockin’ Revival.
A celebration of Larry's life will be held at the Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon, on Friday, January 24 at 10am. Family and friends are invited to visit with Larry's family at 9am until the time of the memorial service. Interment alongside will take place at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery immediately following. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Lebanon Valley Church of Christ, 25 N. 4th St., Lebanon, PA 17042.
