Merrill "Mert" A Garloff

Merrill A. “Mert” Garloff, 83, passed away on August 18, 2023 in the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE. He was the beloved husband of the late Stella Garloff. Mert was born in Lebanon on August 27, 1939, a son of the late Elmer and Marguerite Naftzinger Garloff. He had formerly been employed by Lebanon Building Supply, Reber’s Gas Station, J.P. Donmoyer Trucking, Cornwall-Lebanon School District where he known as Mr. Mert. He was also known as “Poppop Gringo” on YouTube. Mert loved splitting wood with his son; going country line dancing; riding motorcyles; watching NASCAR; but mostly spending time with his family. He is survived by children: Debi Miller Hummelstown; Kim, wife of Jim Dugan, Wernersville; Rick and wife Betsy Garloff, Harbeson, DE; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother: John and wife Laverne Garloff and a companion: Gwen Leppo as well as his dog: Keri. He was preceded in death by a son: Robert Garloff; brothers Larry and Dennis and sisters: Peg and Doris. Graveside funeral and interment services will be on Friday at 2:00pm in Grand View Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank Delaware Hospice Center staff.
