Peter B Flowers

On April 22, 2022, Peter Boone Flowers, MD, longtime Lebanon, PA resident and beloved husband of Anne E. Flowers, devoted father of Patricia Flowers-Coulson (Mark Coulson) & grandfather of Peter & Will Coulson of Towson, MD, and dear brother of Sarah H. Flowers of Lebanon, died at Hershey Medical Center. Born on January 20, 1936 to Gladys Happel Flowers and H. Ross Flowers, he attended Lebanon City Schools, graduating from Lebanon High School in 1953. He graduated from Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, PA in 1954 and Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH in 1958, then Temple Medical School in Philadelphia, PA in 1962. Dr. Flowers completed his internship in General Practice at Polyclinic Hospital in Harrisburg, PA. Dr Flowers was a commissioned officer in the Navy from 1963 until 1965, serving in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, VA.

In 1965 the family returned to his beloved hometown, Lebanon, PA where he and his wife opened a private general practice on Cornwall Road. He also served as the medical director of Cedar Haven for 32 years. The private practice was closed by Dr. and Mrs. Flowers in December of 2005.

At the time of his death, Dr. Flowers served on the Board of the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery and was a member of Derry Presbyterian Church along with his wife. He was also a member of the Tulpehocken Rod & Gun Club. He and his wife also enjoyed surf fishing in North Carolina for many years and traveling to Maine with a stop at his alma mater Dartmouth College. His favorite activity was visiting with his grandsons Peter & Will, hosting them frequently at what was dubbed “Camp Grandma and Grandpa.” He shared with them his love of nature and taught them archery, target shooting, and fly fishing.

In 2018 he and his wife moved to Londonderry Village in Palmyra, PA where his wife continues to reside. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to the Dartmouth College Education Fund or the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. A memorial service will be held at Derry Presbyterian Church at a later date.
