Richard L. Boyer, 79, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Cedar Haven. He was the devoted husband of Sally A. Greenawalt Boyer, with whom he recently celebrated 44 years of marriage on June 14th.
Born in Lebanon on November 13, 1944, Richard was the son of the late Leroy and Dorothy Derr Boyer. A proud graduate of Northern Lebanon High School, Class of 1963, Richard dedicated 27 years of his career to the Lebanon VA Medical Center. Following his retirement, he enjoyed working at Redner’s, where he continued to share his warm and friendly nature.
Richard was a man of faith, worshiping in the United Methodist tradition. When not working, he found great joy in tending to his vegetable garden, berries, and fruit trees, a passion that kept him close to nature. He was also an avid sports fan, cheering on Philadelphia teams and Penn State Football with enthusiasm.
Above all, Richard cherished his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, always putting his family first and taking pride in their happiness and well-being. Known for his gift of gab, Richard had a unique ability to connect with everyone he met. His warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.
In addition to his wife Sally, Richard is survived by his loving daughters, Tina Marie Boyer and Lisa Ann Boyer; his adored grandchildren, Kayla Lynn VanBrunt and Christian Richard VanderHeyden; and his brother, Thomas Wagner. He was preceded in death by his uncle who raised him, Chester Keller, as well as his brothers, Carl and Larry Boyer.
