Dick served his country faithfully as a member of the National Guard and Army and was a longtime member of the Annville American Legion and the Weavertown Fire Co. In his free time, he loved to work on puzzles and word searches and though he could spend hours playing solitaire, Dick was truly in his element when in nature. He loved the mountains but also had an astounding green thumb, especially when it came to his prized red roses, which he tended to for decades. He also enjoyed mowing the lawn on his tractor and cultivating the garden.
On September 8, 1973, he married the love of his life, Barbara nee Bochmann. She is left to cherish his memory, along with their children Kim (Robert) Uhler, Kenneth Hoffer, Carolyn (Mark) Hoyer and Robert (Penny) Warner; as well as many dear grandchildren.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard Hoffer; a sister, Lorriane and brother, David; and daughter-in-law, Patricia.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 10:00 am in Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon, PA 17042. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am until time of service. Burial will follow in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
