Richard Yarnell Roof

Richard Yarnell Roof, 88, passed away peacefully in Lebanon on Wednesday, December 18, 2013. He was the husband of Kathleen Durr Roof. He was born in Lebanon on January 8, 1925, a son of the late Norman and Kathryn Dundore Roof. He was self-employed, and worked on amusement equipment. Richard served in the US Navy during World War II. He was active in veteran organizations including the American Legion; 40 & 8 where he held offices and also was active with the VFW, Navy Club and United Clubs. He enjoyed singing, reading, traveling and spending time with his family. Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Richard E. Roof of Lebanon; Diane Stradley and husband Bruce of CO; Patricia Bender and partner Ken Kline of Palmyra; Regina Roof-Ray and husband David of MD; grandchildren, Richard J. Roof, Anthony Roof, Jason Stradley, Tara Stradley, Megan Moore, Cole Kline, Lydia Ray and Moriah Ray; great grandchildren, Mystie Moore and LeeAnn Roof. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 AM in the Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon with a viewing beginning on Saturday at 9:30 AM. Interment will be made in the Grand View Memorial Park.
