Bob was born on September 5, 1936 in Aurora, Illinois and died on February 17, 2023 at the Cornwall Manor Health Center in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Bob grew up in Elburn, Illinois, graduated from Beloit College in Wisconsin and received his MBA from the University of Chicago. Soon after graduation he was "invited" by Uncle Sam to spend two years in the Army. Soon he found himself in peacetime Korea, as an auditor for Army clubs. He then spent nearly 40 years as a finance and tax executive for General Electric. Concerned about homelessness in the community, he was part of the faith groups that founded Operation Hope of Fairfield, CT, providing housing, as well as help in moving clients' lives forward. He participated in the Greater Bridgeport CROP walk for 30 years raising $80,000 over that period. For 15 years he co-led mission trips in Bolivia that were sponsored by the New York Conference of the United Methodist Church. This left him with numerous Bolivian brothers and sisters. A gifted writer and photographer, he shared these gifts with many friends as well as Faith in Action United Methodist Newsletter. Bob is survived by his wife Ginny of Cornwall, PA, son Bob of Palmyra, PA, daughter Betsy Simms and son-in-law Mike of Pennsburg, PA, son Dave and daughter-in-law Lisa of Meriden, CT; grandsons David of Fort Bragg, NC, Brandon of Boston, MA, Granddaughter Brooke of Meriden, CT, daughter Kate Dobson and son-in-law Marin as well as grandsons August and Finley, all of Honolulu, HI.
