Dora Nikolai

It is with sadness, that we announce the passing of Dora Nikolai. Dora passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 91 on August 24, 2015, at Leduc Community Hospital. Dora was the 6th of 11 children born and raised in the farming community of Fruitland, Alberta. At the age of 18, she married Emil Nikolai; together they raised 4 children, settling as long-time residents into the community of Thorsby, Alberta. Her last few years were spent living at Plainview Manor Nursing Home in Leduc, Alberta. Dora will be lovingly remembered by her children Gladys (Joe) Sobon, Melvin (Emelina) Nikolai, Ken Nikolai, Marlene (Doug) Popik; nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; sisters Isabelle, Adeline and Esther.

Meeting her at heaven’s gate, taking her hand to guide her home, she reunites with her husband Emil, seven siblings, daughter-in-law Doris and many other family and friends that have passed before her.

The funeral service in celebration of her life will be held at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church (5119-48 Ave) Thorsby, Alberta on Thursday September 3, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Cemetery.
