Herbert James Rogers

The family of Herbert James Rogers is deeply saddened to announce his passing on March 17, 2022 at the age of 79. Herb was born to Samuel and Ida Rogers on the farm in the Taylorside district, Sask. Herb was a dedicated employee at installing telephone equipment, sales and deliveries until the age of 74 when he retired. Herb married the love of his life Eletha in 1969 and they had a son and daughter together. They moved around a bit and settled in Leduc for the past 40 years. He was often found at the hockey rink, ball diamond, hiking in the mountains, enjoying a drink with friends and family or doing odd jobs around the house. Herb was always up for an adventure and loved to travel with his wife. One highlight in his life is when his son took him to Graceland, He was such an Elvis fan. His pride and joy were his grandchildren. Watching hockey was a favourite past time especially if the Oilers were playing. Herb enjoyed a game of crib and solitaire on his iPad. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Herb fought a courageous battle with Parkinson’s and other health issues.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 52 years Eletha, son Curtis (Dana) Sam and Harrison, and daughter Kristy (Ken) Ella, Clara and Holly Schafer, his brothers Clinton, Leonard(Phylis), sisters Marilyn Nelson and Evelyn(Randy) Anderson, brother-in-law Garry(Dayle) Drury, sister in laws Trudy(Mike) Taylor, Linda(Mike) Soulier , Cheryl(Roger) Leray as well and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and their families.

He was predeceased by his parents, father Samuel, mother Ida, sisters Mariam and Ellen brothers Thomas, Ivan, Earl, Ernie, David, father-in-law Grant Drury and mother-in-law Shirley Drury. He will be deeply missed and forever loved. Rest In Peace. There will be a celebration of life at the Royal Canadian Legion Melfort July 16, 2022 at 2-5pm.
